Several versions of Mount Lebanon Shaker chair catalogs were produced in the nineteenth century.

These gold transfer labels were applied to rockers and wrapped around stretchers, and certified that the chair was a genuine Shaker product.

While many Shaker goods were sold by Trustees who traveled into the World on established routes, the Shakers welcomed those outside of their communities to enter their gates and shop at their sisters’ shops or stores. While these stores were often located within the village’s Trustees’ Office, some were to be found in a sisters’ shop that had an entrance on the main road. After 1860, these shops sold a variety of Shaker wares often referred to as “fancy work” or “fancy goods” that were made by the sisters. These items included sewing boxes, pincushions, pen wipes, brushes, doll clothing, cloaks, small braided rugs, chair cushions, spool holders, and a variety of other small handmade objects.
